A video from a refugee camp in Ethiopia, February 2023

As part of HelpAge Canada’s project, funded by Global Affairs Canada, to deliver humanitarian aid to address the health, nutrition and protection needs of older people and persons with specific needs (PSNs) in Ethiopia, HelpAge Canada led a monitoring trip in February 2023 to visit local partners and see the project’s impact.

Hamza Ansari (Global Partnerships Lead, HelpAge Canada) and Gregor Sneddon (Executive Director, HelpAge Canada) met with local Older Persons Associations integral community groups that support the needs of older people whose work is especially important as the country faces an ongoing refugee crisis.

Our team was humbled and honoured to see how Canada’s support has made a difference for older people in Ethiopia who are facing incredibly challenging conditions, and to hear their thanks firsthand. HelpAge Canada hopes to continue its support in Ethiopia in the future.
