John, an older man from Manitoba, faced a challenging fight when he was diagnosed with stomach cancer. Eventually, part of his stomach even needed to be removed. The effects of his treatment and changes to his digestion badly eroded John’s teeth, leaving him undernourished at a critical point in his cancer journey.
To get back on the road to recovery, John needed surgery for his teeth, but the cost was unattainable for an older adult on a fixed income – over ten thousand dollars.
With our local partner, CancerCare Manitoba, and the Never Alone Cancer Foundation, we made sure John got the dental care he needed, taking a huge burden off his plate in an incredibly difficult time.
