HelpAge Canada gives a warm welcome to our newest team member, Dr. Rose Joudi (Ph.D. Psych.), who joins us in the critical role of Senior Advisor, Gender Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion.
Dr. Joudi will be championing the inclusion of older persons who are traditionally underserved, equity denied, or who face layered barriers to access. These can include but are not limited to those whose voices are marginalized due to gender, race, age, language, or other elements of intersectionality.
A key project she will be leading is a Canada-wide research and policy initiative examining the role of the Community-Based Seniors’ Services (CBSS) sector in addressing older women’s economic prosperity and security. Dr. Joudi is a recognized researcher, international speaker, and leader advancing inclusive policies and practices in ageing. Her expertise spans ethnocultural diversity, older adult mistreatment, ageism, and the development of culturally responsive systems of care.
Formerly the Project Manager for The Way In Network (TWIN) at Carya, she worked alongside governments, service agencies, and community partners to bridge systemic gaps, promote age-friendly policy innovation, and ensure that diverse older adults are supported with dignity, respect, and cultural responsiveness.
Dr. Joudi is a Board director for the Alberta Association on Gerontology (AAG) and a past Board director on the Canadian Network for Prevention of Elder Abuse (CNPEA) and the Alberta Council on Aging (ACA). She also volunteered for 4-years as a community advisor on older adult welfare and safety for Alberta’s Ministry of Assisted Living and Social Services.
We are delighted to welcome Dr. Joudi to the HelpAge Canada team, as we work to build a more inclusive and equitable future for older women in Canada.
