One of the most powerful experiences I have had with HelpAge Canada is travelling and being confronted, face to face, with hard working, family loving, self-giving older people, who are destitute because there is no social security in their country. Older people in many places, when they stop working, are lucky if they can bunk with a family member, or they become homeless, penniless, voiceless, and alone.
