Fortina and her common law husband had two children, one of whom is still living. For many years Fortina was a devoted homemaker who enjoyed caring for her family. She also contributed to the family income by working as a gardener. As she aged and her vision deteriorated, she was no longer able to work.

Noralia Termidor is an  87 year old widow. Of her twelve children, three sons and two daughters are still living. Poor themselves, they are, sadly, unable to support their mother. In her younger days Noralia worked hard to help provide for her family by working as a gardener and street vendor. Advanced inage, she is no longer able to work. With no pension and no other source of income, Noralia struggles to survive.

In her younger days Nesida worked hard to help support her family by working as a gardener. Advanced in age, she is no longer able to work. Solon is approximately 80 years old. Although he is married, he was abandoned by his wife because she could not cope with his blindness or support him. With no one to look after him and no income, he was admitted to LeBon Samaritain residence for older persons in need. Solon is grateful for life at the Bon Samaritain. He enjoys the companionship of the other residents, with whom he likes to laugh and tell stories.
