Rosamma Thekkumkattil

Rosamma Thekkumkattil

BIRTHDAY:  July 19, 1942

COUNTRY:  India

Rosamma is a 77 year old widow with four sons and one daughter. For many years she was a devoted homemaker who enjoyed caring for her family. As she aged and after her husband passed away, her children provided her with a home. Over time, however, they found her to be a burden. With no pension and no one to care for her, Rosamma was so pleased to be welcomed to the Mercy Home, where she receives such compassionate care.

Rosamma has several health issues, including diabetes, high blood pressure, and hearing problems. Recently she has also started to show signs of Parkinson’s disease. Managing her ailments with homeopathic treatments, she considers herself to be in relatively fair health.

Rosamma derives strength from her spiritual practices and spends much of her day in prayer. She attends Mass every morning and later in the day spends an hour in contemplation and adoration.

Easy to please, Rosamma appreciates anything that is placed before her at mealtimes but is especially happy if dinner consists of tapioca with fish.

Sponsorship will assist in the provision of food, medication, and many items of basic need. Just as importantly, Rosamma will know that someone cares.

OUR PARTNER CARING ORGANIZATION – Mercy Home, Thidanad, Kerala, India

Inflation in the countries where we work and the eroding purchasing power of sponsorship dollars make it hard to deliver a consistent level of assistance to grandparents around the world. An increase of a few dollars in your monthly contribution will help us keep benefits strong for all our seniors in the sponsorship program, including your sponsored grandparent, regardless of variations in local economies. With your support, sponsored Grandparents in HelpAge Canada programs can meet their daily needs and live secure healthy lives with dignity.
