John L’Homme2

John L’Homme

BIRTHDAY:  April 25, 1957

COUNTRY:  Dominica

A native to Dominica, John is 62 years old. Although he was married, he and his wife have been separated for quite some time. One of his two children, a son, is still living. He is impoverished himself, however, and is unable to provide for his Dad. John speaks and reads English. He also speaks Creole.

In his younger days John supported his family by working hard as a farmer. Five years ago he suffered a stroke and has been unable to work since. He takes medication to ease back pain and is currently taking therapy in order to help restore his movement.

Before Hurricane Maria struck the island in September 2017, John was living in a two bedroom house with his sister, who helped with the cooking and other housework. His home was destroyed in the storm, and John is now living in a shelter. Although housing officials have recently promised to rebuild his home, construction is rarely a quick process.

John keeps up his spirits the best he can, taking short walks in the village and attending any activities that are held in the park.

Sponsorship for John will assist in the provision of food, medication, and many other items of basic need. Just as importantly, your assistance will let him know that someone cares. Thank you so much.
