Inflation in the countries where we work and the eroding purchasing power of sponsorship dollars make it hard to deliver a consistent level of assistance to grandparents around the world. An increase of a few dollars in your monthly contribution will help us keep benefits strong for all our seniors in the sponsorship program, including your sponsored grandparent, regardless of variations in local economies. With your support, sponsored Grandparents in HelpAge Canada programs can meet their daily needs and live secure healthy lives with dignity.
Birthday: July 5, 1949
Gloria is a 70 year old woman who lives with her common law husband. They had ten children, of which four daughters and four sons are still living. Gloria’s spoken and written language is English. Fortunately, Gloria is in relatively good health, although she does have poor circulation.
As far back as she can remember,Gloria has helped support herself and her family by working as a higgler (peddler). Although she still has some income from working, it is not enough even to provide her family with sufficient food. A pleasant, friendly woman, Gloria spends a lot of time caring for her grandchildren, and she loves going to church. Two of her favourite activities are singing and baking, although she contends that she does neither of them particularly well. Easy to please, she enjoys any kind of food except rice.
Sponsorship for Gloria will assist in the provision of food, clothing, and medical attention. Just as importantly, it will show her that someone cares.
