The provinces of North Kivu and Ituri in the Democratic Republic of Congo are areas of high insecurity where armed groups regularly attack civilians. Driven from their homes, displaced seniors and children are thrust into particularly precarious situations. They are often victim of sexual violence, regardless of age or gender.
Left with nothing, older women are particularly vulnerable and lack the means to take care of themselves or their families. By funding income-generating activities, you are giving an older woman the tools and knowledge to earn a living and become financially independent.
Learning how to make and sell products such as soap, sauces, and traditional remedies empowers her to feed herself, help her loved ones, and very often send her grandchildren to school.
