Thank you Ride to Connect!
KMs = Connectivity for seniors across Canada
A successful Ride to Connect campaign has led to over $53,000 dollars being raised for the Seniors Can Connect! program.
Seniors Can Connect! is a HelpAge Canada program, delivered by Connected Canadians. The program provides tablets and technology mentorship to help seniors. Through the program, seniors can overcome barriers to access, gain confidence, and build the digital literacy skills necessary for today’s technological world. You can learn more about Seniors Can Connect by vising the website.
“It is in no small part thanks to the Ride to Connect campaign that we are able to offer this incredible program. As we brace for a second wave of COVID-19, helping more seniors get online and stay connected with their support networks is critical. Ride to Connect is about empowering Canadian seniors with access to the online world. This campaign not only raised funds, but also awareness about this critical need.”
– Nicole Perry, Director of National Programs, HelpAge Canada
“From the very start, we knew it was only possible to scale this program with strong community support. HelpAge Canada and the Ride to Connect Team have provided that and more, we are so grateful to them for empowering us to provide seniors with free digital literacy training and support.”
– Emily Jones Joanisse, CEO, Connected Canadians
Over the summer, the Ride to Connect community grew to include 411 cyclists who pedaled 285,157 kilometers.
“This campaign has shown that even through the difficult times of a global pandemic, our community can come together to advocate for disadvantaged members. Not only did we support a great cause through cycling, but our team, along with many members of our community, had fun along the way.”
– Francesco Fazzari, Ride to Connect Founding Member
“It was inspirational to see how the Ride to Connect community grew over the summer and we hope that all members of our community had as much fun as we did cycling for such an important cause. We’re so excited to see results of the Seniors Can Connect! program and we hope that future Ride to Connect campaigns are just as successful as this one.”
– Adriano Petrangelo, Ride to Connect Founding Member
Statement from Ride to Connect
The Ride to Connect team would like to extend a sincere thank you to everyone who has supported the campaign along the way and contributed to its success. The enthusiasm and generosity shown by the members of our cycling community, and by our donors and sponsors, is a testament to the commitment younger generations have towards supporting our nation’s elderly – in tough times and beyond.
We would also like to thank our partner organizations, HelpAge Canada and Connected Canadians, for the mentorship and support they have given us since the beginning of the campaign. We truly believe in the Seniors Can Connect! mission and we hope that our community’s efforts from this past summer will greatly benefit this pursuit.
Please stay tuned to Ride to Connect and Seniors Can Connect! social media pages over the fall and winter months for updates about next summer’s campaign. Ride to Connect is going national and we hope that you can join the movement! With your help, next year’s campaign will even more successful!
