In partnership with local organizations, HelpAge Canada works to overcome challenges related to extreme poverty, lack of access to health services and natural disasters such as tropical storms.
Our Sponsor a Grandparent program helps to provide basic necessities to vulnerable older persons in Jamaica, Dominica, Grenada and Haiti.

We operate a physiotherapy project that gives mobility and independence back to older men and women in Haiti. We have also been actively involved in the reconstruction of houses destroyed by Hurricane Sandy.

Jamaica: 7.7% of the population is over 65 years old which accounts for over 200, 000 people. The life expectancy is 73 years.
Grenada: 9.1% of the population is over 65 years old which accounts for close to 10,000 people. The life expectancy is 73 years.
Dominica: 10.3% of the population is over 65 years old which accounts for a little under 8,000 people. The life expectancy is 76 years.
Haiti: 4% of the population is over 65 years old which accounts for over 315,000 people. The life expectancy is 62 years.
