Canadian Programs

HelpAge Canada is committed to bettering the lives of older people the world over, and that means we work here at home to help older people claim their rights, fight discrimination, and live in dignity. Even in a nation as prosperous as Canada, there are older people who face challenges on a daily basis. That's where our Canadian programs come in.

Isolated Seniors Programming

HelpAge Canada's Reaching Out to Isolated Seniors (ROTIS) program facilitates a city-wide network that raises awareness about the risk factors of an isolated senior and where to call for help in the Ottawa area. HelpAge Canada provides a telephone service for directing seniors or concerned persons to the help they need. The ROTIS Network of more than 100 agencies, organizations and faith groups works together to address the challenges that prevent isolated seniors being connected to community programs and services that were designed to assist them.

Advocacy and Organization

HelpAge Canada works with older Canadians nation-wide to develop advocacy organizations to fight for the rights of older people. In cooperation with the Nunavut territorial government HelpAge Canada is working to develop Nunavut's first Seniors Society, a territorial wide organization to advocate for older Inuit at the territorial level. HelpAge Canada is also working to connect provincial and municipal organizations together at a national level to advocate for the rights of older Canadians
